Hi, I’m Jenny.
I am a therapeutic dance practitioner and Dance/Movement Therapist (DTAA Prov. Prof) with Diplomas in Dance Movement Therapy and Dru Yoga. I have a BA in Cultural Anthropology and a P-BACC in Creative Writing: Poetry. I have been teaching community dance for over 15 years, running Moringa Dancers community dance performance group for 10 years, facilitating Dru Yoga for 5 years, and leading therapeutic dance for 2 years. In my past life before then, I have been a writer and a texture artist, always keeping my dance practice alive. I grew up in California, and moved to NZ 20 years ago.
Dance has saved my soul and seen me through many difficult times in life, both physical and emotional. I have danced my way on a journey through nerve pain to a pain-free dynamic stabilisation of a broken vertebrae, through difficulties in parenting, romantic relationships and grieving the loss of my own parent.
I have found through experience and study, that the combination of conscious movement and breath and talking things through in a safe space for self expression can create change both in physical and emotional manifestations of pain, and be a catalyst for great transformation. I work with an emphasis on person-centred, positive psychology concepts.
I am here to support you in your journey of self discovery to facilitate a pathway towards greater ease, flow and joy.

imagine this day in 8 weeks time
The reality is you will begin to shift, express and move emotions from the first class and our first session, however over a period of time as all that sinks in, you will begin to find you are:
- Feeling empowered, life feels fun and experiencing daily joy
- Feeling connected to yourself, your intuition and your physical body
- Dancing through obstacles
- Equipped with tools and strategies to soothe your nervous system and process emotions
- Feeling fulfilled
- Resilient

how it works
As this is a 1:1 program it is completely personalised and tailored to you and where you’re at. Each week we will connect for a 60 minute 1:1 session which will be based around supporting you, working with your needs and goals so that you can navigate challenges more easily and tap into your expressed and joyful self, so that becomes your new state of being more frequently. These 1:1 sessions can be in person in my office in Miramar, Wellington, or via zoom, depending on your preference and availability. You will also have access to my guidance via txt/email and all of my Afro dance group classes during this time, so that you are fully supported during our time together.
